THE winner of a $36 million lottery ticket only has a few hours left to claim their prize or it will be gone forever.

The Mega Millions jackpot was won in Florida in August 2023, it must be claimed on February 11 by midnight which is the last day of the 180 day leeway period.

The lotto winner can choose to get the full $36 million in increments or a $17.4 cash option.

“The deadline to claim the jackpot prize is Sunday, February 11, 2024, at midnight, ET.”, Florida Lottery said in a release.

The Florida Lottery is encouraging Mega Millions players to double check their tickets.

The winning numbers were 18, 39, 42, 57, and 63. The Mega Ball number is 7, and the Multiplier is 3x.

The drawing occurred on August 15, 2023. 

To quickly check if your ticket is a winner, players can download the Lottery’s free mobile app to scan the barcode and instantly be notified.

The app is available for iOS and Android devices.

However, the jackpot prize must be claimed at the Florida Lottery District Office in Tallahassee.

If the Mega Millions jackpot ticket is claimed, the winner will not have to pay state taxes on it.

Florida does not tax lottery winnings and prizes are only be subject to federal taxes.

Federal lottery taxes are at 24 percent of the winnings.
