NFL fans have been left furious after a controversial Week 6 call.

Jalen Hurts' first-quarter rushing touchdown to give the Philadelphia Eagles the lead over the New York Jets on Sunday had some suggesting the NFL was "rigged."

On fourth and goal at New York's three-yard line, the Eagles quarterback's run was initially declared a turnover on downs.

At first glance, Hurts appeared to have come short before fumbling the ball which was then recovered in the end zone by wideout Olamide Zaccheaus.

However, the play was subsequently reviewed and the call was overturned, with officials deciding Hurts did reach the goal line.

Fans immediately flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share in their anger at the decision.

"Wow! NFL desperate for an Eagles win. They have to make up imaginary rulings to help them score. Rigged football league rolls on," wrote one fan.

Another said: "The officials review decision to give the Eagles a TD there is exactly why people think the #NFL is rigged.

"I don't think I've ever seen a play that was ruled down on the field overturned the way they just did. There was not sufficient video to overturn that, not even close."

While a third added: "No. Typical cheating bias against the Jets."

And even NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson admitted it had been an "interesting sequence of events."

However, that was only the first questionable call.

Greg Zuerlein converted a 43-yard field goal attempt to get some points on the board for the Jets in the second quarter.

At least, that was the call on the field.

"Hold up, I'm not crazy and wasn't the only person who thought that the Jets field goal was clearly missed, right...?" tweeted one fan.

A second added: "That Jets field goal was a make up call."

As another unconvinced fan wrote: "Ok! The jets field goal must have been part of the script! Cool."

The Eagles ended up losing their first game of the season, falling 20-14 at MetLife Stadium after a late touchdown by Breece Hall.
