A POTENTIAL reason behind NFL Films' decision to cut the audio from Travis Kelce and Andy Reid's sideline altercation has been revealed.

Kansas City Chiefs star Kelce and head coach Reid stole the headlines during their Super Bowl LVIII win against the San Francisco 49ers when they went head-to-head on the sideline.

During the second quarter, an irate Kelce approached Reid following a fumble by teammate Isiah Pacheco.

Kelce bumped into Reid, causing him to stumble, before yelling point-blank into his face.

Exactly what was said was not clear during the game, and afterward, both Kelce and Reid brushed off the incident.

In the subsequent episode of the CW Network's Inside The NFL, the incident was only briefly covered, with the show only including CBS' broadcast footage and audio of commentator Tony Romo discussing it.

The conspicuous absence of any new sideline footage or audio stood out, given that Kelce had been mic'd up for the game.

However, a recent report has claimed that the decision not to include any new footage or audio may well have come from Reid himself, as per the New York Post.

Two sources are said to have told the outlet that they are confident the decision was made by Kansas City.

One of the sources also believed the call was made by Reid.

An Inside The NFL representative would not comment on the matter, as per the Post.

NFL Media and the Chiefs did not respond to the outlet when asked for a comment.

However, it seems that this is not a new practice.

The report explained that teams essentially have the right to put a stop to any footage involving themselves - something that is said to be put into use when producing the popular HBO series Hard Knocks.

Last week, following Kansas City's Super Bowl win, Kelce again addressed the elephant in the room on his New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, and Philadelphia Eagles center, Jason.

"I can't get that fired up to the point when I'm bumping coach and getting him off guard," Travis admitted.

"When he stumbled I was like, 'Ah s**t.'

"I'm a passionate guy, I love coach Reid. Coach Reid knows how much I love to play for him, how much I love to be a product of his coaching career.

"I'm not playing for anybody else than Big Red. If he calls it quits I'm out of there with him."

"I have got a certain relationship with him. He's checked me a few times.

"I just wanted to let him know that I wanted this thing and that he can put it on me and I got him.

"It came in a moment when we weren't playing very well and I wasn't playing very well and I wanted to get some s**t going.

"Sometimes the emotions get away from me and that's been a battle of my career."

Later in the episode, Travis went on to admit that his behavior was "Definitely unacceptable," adding he, "Immediately wished I could take it back.

"Coach Reid came up to me right after that and didn't even have harsh words for me. I was ready to get an ass-chewing and tell me to be better.

"He let me know, 'Hey man, I love your passion but I've got cameras on me all over the place, you don't want things to come off.'

"It fired me up even more to go and get a f**ing victory for him because that's how much I love that dude.

"Big Red, sorry if I caught you with that cheap shot, baby."

As for Reid, after the game, he told NBC Sports' Peter King that during the incident, Kelce had told him, "'Don't count me out! I'm good! I can do this!'

"I love that intensity. It radiates."
