DEAR DEIDRE: HAVING lied to my parents about my new partner’s age, I am in a fix as they now want to meet him.
I’m 19 and he is 45. I work as a receptionist and he is a client of our firm.

My parents know I’ve met someone new who I really like but I’ve told them he is 25.
They were worried enough about that age gap but they’ll freak out if they discover he is 45.
I love him to bits but he has grey hair and looks his age.

DEIDRE SAYS: You are an adult. If you are sure that this guy is the one for you, you have to tell your parents the truth about his age and ask them to meet him with an open mind.
Just a thought – it could be you have been attracted to someone who must be around your parents’ age because you still feel the need of an older authority figure in your life.
Telling your parents the truth could be the beginning of you becoming a full adult.
