Club handled Mason Greenwood decision horrendously, Rachel Riley says

Rachel Riley has accused the club of handling the Mason Greenwood saga "appallingly".

The Countdown host and lifelong Red Devils supporter hit out at the club in a lengthy tweet.

Rachel shared two images - one of her as a baby with a Utd teddy and a second with her two children wearing official kits.

She said the decision to get rid of Greenwood was "right" but the statement released was "horrendous".

Rachel added: "I’ve been a red since before I was born, I’ve passed it on to my baby girls and some of the all time best times of my life have been working with, and cheering on Man United, so I write with such a heavy heart - as a club we’ve handled this appallingly."

Gary Neville condemns club over Mason Greenwood saga

Gary Neville has condemned the club for its “horrible” handling of the Mason Greenwood saga.

The Sky Sports pundit and ex-Red Devils captain said Greenwood’s newly-announced exit exposed leadership failures at the Old Trafford club.

Former England international Neville said it was the “right decision” to announce this afternoon Greenwood would be leaving United.

But he told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports last night the six-month process ahead of the announcement was “pretty horrible”.

And he accused club chiefs of failing to be “strong and authoritative”.

Inside Erik ten Hag’s crunch talks with squad

Erik Ten Hag held a team meeting to explain why Mason Greenwood will not be returning to Manchester United.

The manager and players had been expecting to reintegrate the 21-year-old forward into the squad this week.

Ten Hag gathered his squad together yesterday to explain the reasons behind the decision.

The Dutchman also welcomed any feedback from the players.

Club’s decision follows Old Trafford protests

The club’s decision not to include Greenwood in its squad this season follows protests against his rumoured return.

Fans made clear their fury at Greenwood’s potential return before tonight’s Prem opener against Wolves.

One female fan held an expletive-laden poster blasting the club’s refusal to rule out Greenwood’s return.

It read: “Don’t leave the decision up to the women’s team, you spineless, motherless f***s.”

Others sang protest chants outside Old Trafford in the run-up to the start of United’s season.
