WASHINGTON (TND) — Family members of Hamas hostages are in Washington D.C. this week putting pressure on Congress to do more to bring their loved ones home.
Liran Berman is from Israel and his twin brothers were kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. Berman wants to make sure they are not forgotten.
Gali and Ziv Berman are inseparable, sharing a love of European fútbol and having a good beer with big brother Liran.
"They are working, traveling, and having fun," Liran told The National Desk.
The twins live in Kibbutz Kfar Aza in Israel near the Gaza Border.
Liran describes life there as "98% paradise and 2% hell."
The hell came on Oct. 7 when Hamas terrorists stormed over the Gaza border, killing and kidnapping Israelis.
"They were in the same neighborhood but not the same safe room when they were abducted," Liron said. "The sad reality is that kidnapped is better than funerals."
Liran and other family members are in D.C. putting pressure on U.S. lawmakers to do more. Doris Liber's son Guy was also taken.
"We don't have a list of the hostages, we don't their condition, we need your help," Liber said.
Liran told us he feels lawmakers are listening.
"We got sympathy from both parties telling us they can do whatever they can," Liran said.
The twin brothers' last contact was a message to their mom on Oct. 7. Liran said he was planning to visit his brothers on that horrific day.
"Me and my family were supposed to be here," Liran said.
He is hoping his brothers are still together, often imagining the moment they are reunited.
"It will be the happiest day of my life, more than my wedding the birth of my kids," Liran said. "Seeing them alive and together again. The happiest day of my life."
Some family members want lawmakers to put more pressure on Middle Eastern countries to release the over 200 people who were taken over 30 days ago.
