LEE Corso has been an analyst on ESPN's College GameDay since 1987, but the 88-year-old's age has been a call for concern from fans.

And with GameDay's recent addition of former Alabama football head coach Nick Saban, fans have wondered whether the veteran will return for the 2024-25 season - now they have their answer.

On Wednesday, ESPN announced Saban would join Saturday's hit college football show as its newest analyst.

He'll join the table alongside current hosts and analysts Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Corso.

GameDay has undergone quite a transition in the last few years.

McAfee, who previously appeared on GameDay in 2019 and 2020, was a controversial signing as a full-time analyst in 2022, replacing David Pollack.

With Saban's arrival, some viewers presumed this meant Corso was out of his role.

However, The Athletic's Richard Deitsch reported that ESPN says he'll remain an integral member for 2024, writing, "An ESPN Spokesperson confirms: Corso will be back on College GameDay next year."

On X, formerly known as Twitter, fans were split on the company's decision to put the former 15-year NCAA coach on television for another year.

"Excellent! Lose McAfee," one noted.

"I don’t understand why. I love Corso too. It’s time," a second said.

"Someone please force Corso into retirement... ESPN has a bad habit of keeping the stars of the 90s around way too long," another added.

"Really?" a fourth asked on the decision.

In 2023, Corso stated he has no plans to retire and will work on ESPN as long as they continue to call on him.

Since 1996, he's been a signature part of the program with his mascot headgear pick.

At the end of every show, Corso picks the winner of a game, donning its school mascot headwear.

In September 2023, Corso made his 400th headgear pick on GameDay.

GameDay will kick off the 2024 college football season in Dublin on Saturday, August 24.

ESPN did not disclose if Corso will travel for the international affair.
