Consumers are turning to X, the website formerly known as Twitter, to air out their grievances and make suggestions for stores to improve, especially when it comes to the self-checkout.

And while social media is booming with angry mentions for retailers like Kroger, Walmart and Aldi, others have taken a different route to communicate their concerns.

One user recently wrote in a post, "@kroger please hire people to be cashiers. Your self checkout lanes with the conveyors require Ph.D. level knowledge to operate without setting off an alert."

"I just want a pleasant shopping experience, and cashiers who are trained on your pos system make that possible," they added.

Kroger responded back in a post, thanking the customer for bringing the issue to their attention and said it would pass along their concerns to the store's leadership team.

The customer responded back, writing that their store is located in Worthington Centre Dr in Columbus.

"This is a general comment about not having cashiers and forcing customers to be their own cashier," they added.

"It can be nice when you’re only buying a couple items, but in general it would be great to have cashiers over self checkout."

The store claimed it would forward the user's comments to an appropriate department.

Retailers beyond Kroger continue to come under fire over self-checkout, with many complaining that the kiosks "screw up" and slow down their shopping experiences.

While some Krogers have abandoned their all-self-checkout stores following waves of customer backlash, others have completely converted to self-checkout following the success of other cashier-less locations.

Despite these changes and flip-flops, customer complaints churn on.

A shopper recently slammed the self-checkout for what he described was a "humiliating" experience.

He claimed the sensors on the machines were too sensitive and said he triggers them every time he has more than one item in hand to scan at the checkout since there are "never any conveyor belts or places to put [his] groceries."

“As someone who works with IT algorithms and machine learning, these systems have a LONG way to go before they truly interpret human behavior correctly in real-time," he wrote.

He was so furious, he even threatened to boycott the chain altogether.

Meanwhile, another customer said she walked out of Kroger without getting her items after she claimed only one self-checkout line was open.

"I ain't that damn hungry," she wrote.
