In a TikTok, the fashion guru responded to a question about how to look stylish when you work in food service.
Harlow said that she served in Los Angeles and New York for years and really experimented with her wardrobe.
"In New York, they had a much more strict dress code," she said in the video.
"I had to wear jeans, sneakers, and a restaurant T-shirt."

But no matter how strict the dress code, she still managed to give it a unique flair.
She said she would cut up her T-shirts and style them to have a boat neck or fit more tightly.
While working in LA, she said: "Everyone was encouraged to have their own style."
However, her personal taste may have been too much, as she explained that she ultimately got fired from the job, and couldn't recommend the outfits in good conscience.

"I kept my nails and stayed true to my own style, but I didn't really fit in," she said.
Nevertheless, she continued to provide details on what she wore to express herself.
While building her waitress wardrobe, she said that she mainly shopped at thrift stores and Fashion Nova.
Most of her outfits included: "tight dresses, slip dresses, lingerie bodysuit, Fashion Nova jeans, Fashion Nova catsuits" among other racy items.
On her feet, she said that she mainly wore clogs from Ten Points shoes as they were stylish but really comfortable.
Eventually, she got some high-heeled Dr Martens and said they weren't completely her style but made her feel "powerful."
"I felt way more comfortable talking back to someone who was giving me a hard time when I was wearing these," she said.
She then shared an older photo of herself stunning in skinny jeans with a white bodysuit.
In the comments section, she gave a few more details about getting laid off from the LA job.
"It wasn't anything I'd done, they said my 'energy was off' (it's LA) and it's true, I was having a really hard time there. But I was devastated," she revealed.
She left another comment under the entertaining video that said: "Ps. I never want to work a restaurant job ever again in my life."
