While the new Smashed Jack and Bacon Double Smashed Jack feature a number of ingredients, the key change is in the patty itself.

The new Jack in the Box offerings went on sale in December at some locations.

It rolled out nationwide on January 1.

PATTY, PLEASE

The new burgers utilize “smashed” patties, a type of burger patty the chain said is increasingly popular.

“With the uptick of trending conversations about smash-style burgers, Jack in the Box is entering the market with its own take, after nearly two years of perfecting the recipe,” the company said in a press release.

The burger’s smashed status means the patty is pressed against the cooktop.

The diner-style smashed burger was popularized by the chain Smashburger.

Jack’s new offering includes a new Boss Sauce, though the release did not explain what the sauce’s flavor was.

Several took to the comments section of one positive YouTube review.

“A banging saucy burger situation for sure,” one customer said.

It’s unclear if the menu item is available for a limited time or permanently.
