A DIY queen has hit back at trolls after they told her she made a massive mistake by spray-painting her sink matte black.

The TikTok star, who boasts 87.2k followers on the social media platform where her username is courtney98kelly, started the clip off by panning the camera around to show off the results of the initial paint-job.

Looking sleek in contrast to the marble kitchen countertops, Courtney appeared pleased with what she had accomplished using Stone Chip Shield - but trolls weren’t as convinced.

“Okay so everybody that commented on my last video, this is my sink,” she said, pointing at the counter.

Courtney continued: “Obviously these are a few marks already on it, but they were already on my sink before.

“And that was the reason I originally spray-painted it because my sink were damaged. So I’m going to wipe it down for you and show you what it does.”

She then turned the tap on as she told viewers: “So before I wipe it down, I just wanna say I have not bought a new sink to everybody who is saying I bought a new sink.”

“As you can see, it is still silver underneath,” she went on, pointing at the tap to show the colour underneath the black.

“Running the water, it runs absolutely fine,” she argued.

Courtney then took a yellow sponge drenched in soap before placing it on the matte black counters to “give it a good scrub”.

“Like I said, so far I’ve not had any problems, it’s actually stayed really well. Tap also, good clean underneath. Like, it doesn’t actually scratch!”

Scrubbing a small section hard with her sponge, she then vowed to prove that it wouldn’t scratch as she wiped it off to reveal a smooth surface.

“There you go, I’ve wiped it all down. And as for the people saying about it being bad for when you put your pots etcetera in the sink, I do actually have a washing bowl, I don’t use the sink to wash my pots or anything else, I have a bowl,” she said.

She concluded: “But yeah, it cost me £12 in total. To be honest, I don’t think it’s done a bad job, I think it’s alright”.

Viewers left mixed reviews in the comments section, with some all for her design hack while others were convinced the cracks would start showing soon  enough.

One person warned: “I have a black sink.. Huge mistake lol. Constantly wiping it to look clean.”

Another viewer with experience in the matte black sink area shared: “iv got a black sink and it’s a nightmare to keep it clean..” [sic]

“I’ve got a black sink it’s terrible maintaining it, mines ceramic n it often looks dull too n it Chips which doesn’t look very nice,” [sic] a third argued.

While a fifth called the ‘hack’ a serious problem as they shared: “in my job we’ve had to remove painted stainless steel or tiles in kitchens due to hygiene regs, as they’re breeding ground for bacteria”. [sic]

Some, however, felt it was a great idea and hit back at trolls who judged Courtney’s choices.

“I think it looks amazing. You should be proud of yourself. It looks like an expensive sink,” one person said.
