LOOKING like a celebrity takes thousands of dollars, painful surgeries, countless hours in front of a makeup mirror – or just one really, really good dress.

A Kardashian fan purchased a replica of an iconic red dress worn by Kylie Jenner, and while she looked smashing, walking around in the outfit was another story, thanks to some brow-raising components in the construction.

Fashion blogger Hope Allen is no stranger to recreating celebrity looks. The YouTube star has bought celebrity clothes secondhand and purchased lookalikes to review for her 1.82million subscribers.

For example, Allen bought a number of celebrity dress dupes, including Kylie Jenner's iconic 2020 Oscar party gown, from online shop The Celebrity Dresses.

Unboxing the gown, Allen said she was excited to see how the "sexy red dress" fit her, pointing out a silicone band at the top that was meant to hold the off-the-shoulder neckline and sleeves in place.

Though the retailer originally listed the gown for $369.99, it was marked down to $149.99 when Allen bought it off the website.

Once she had the dress on, Allen struck a pose – and then held it.

"I can't move my arms!" she said, laughing as she strained against the snug fabric of the bodice. "If I just hold really still, it looks really good."

Readjusting her stance, Allen winced, struggling to find a comfortable position in the tight dress. She wondered if the movement-impeding fit was by design.

"I would imagine most celebrieites' dresses are not meant to move around in," she admitted. "They're meant to look good in pictures."

Even though the top half was tight, the off-the-shoulder neckline didn't stay in place like she anticipated. "The silicone's not exactly doing its job," Allen said.

Of course, the corset-like fit of the gown had its benefits, too.

"My little waist is looking snatched up," Allen said, pleased. As she turned to admire the look, she got a shock when she saw how high-cut the dress was at the side.

"Is that how high her slit was? Holy cow!" Allen exclaimed, gawking at the NSFW leg slit that nearly exposed her rear.

Even if it wasn't a perfect fit for her body, Allen was impressed with the quality of the dress, and said it would be perfect for a high school prom.

It was a great replica of Kylie Jenner's look, which is what mattered most, she said.

"Minus the top half being so tight, I feel like they did a really good job on this dress," Allen said. It's ideal for a special-occasion dress that you'd only want to wear once.

"Does it look like a $10,000 dress like hers probably was? No," she said, "But does it look like a nice $300 dress? Yeah, probably!"
