A WOMAN spent her whole life being made fun of for her last name — and then she met her husband, whose surname was also the butt of jokes.
But she says she would have been an "idiot" to hyphenate them, so she had a choice to make when they tied the knot.

In a TikTok video, Alanna (@alannapc) weighed in on a viral trend.
She responded to a man who prompted: "Tell me the most unfortunate name you've ever heard."
Alanna saw the opportunity as the perfect moment for her to shine.
"This is what I was born for," she said.

"Worst name I ever heard? Try the Crummie-Dick wedding."
Before their May 2021 wedding, her maiden name was Crummie, while her husband's last name was Dick.
"I'm going to take his last name when we get married because no matter what, it's a lose-lose situation for me," she joked.
"Either I keep the last name that I've had for the last 26 years of my life where everyone makes fun of me or I take his last name and get continued to [be] made fun of... or f**king hyphenate," she said.

Fortunately, she understood what a bad decision that would be: "I'm not an idiot but everything for our wedding says Crummie-Dick."
"I can't imagine how our vendors are feeling."
Two years later, she told The U.S. Sun she's happy with her choice: "It’s funny, but also not that big of a deal."
They've recently welcomed their first child, a son born in March 2023.
At the time her video was posted, viewers were delighted by her story and took to the comments to share their thoughts, with one telling her she "won" the trend.
"I’m really thinking about her on the phone with a planner: 'Listen, I'mma give you the name and I need you to take it seriously, this isn’t a prank ok?'" wrote one.
Several also suggested that she and her husband should have gone an entirely different route.
"Option 4: Make up a name together," suggested one commenter.
But Alanna responded: "Yeah but like, I don’t hate our names! I just think it’s all hilarious."
