A RURAL community in Utah is mourning the death of an 18-year-old high school senior who died while snow tubing with a group of friends.
Kirsten Beagley was killed on Saturday following a harrowing accident at the popular Cleveland Reservoir Campground in Emery County, Utah, about two hours south of Salt Lake City.

Beagley, who was at the campgrounds ahead of Emery High School's winter dance, was on an inner tube with another girl when it went too far off the trail and onto a nearby road, Emery County Sheriff Tyson Huntington said.
"It was nothing that they did wrong or anything," Huntington told NBC affiliate KSLTV.
"They're just tubing down that hill and went too fast and went over the first snowbank and onto the asphalt.
"Huge loss of a beautiful, smart, capable young woman, bright future."

Beagley's cousin, Paige Davis, said that the 18-year-old most likely died on impact.
"On one of the trips down the mountain her tube hit a large bump and she flew off and hit the road base below," Paige wrote in a GoFundMe.
"She was knocked unconscious and was most likely killed on impact as she never woke up."
"It's heart-wrenching. Nothing prepares you for something like this," father Kyle Beagley told KSLTV.

Beagley's mother, Janell, and sister, Jannika, remembered the teen as the "happiest person ever."
"She always had a smile on her face," Jannika said.
"She loved spending time with her family and her friends. She was always ready to go on an adventure."
"I think the word is just heartbroken," Janell said.
"That's what I've heard a lot of people say that their hearts are broken, and that's, that's what we feel right now."
The beloved 18-year-old was the drill team captain at Emery High School.
Students and faculty members paid homage to Beagley by wearing her favorite color, pink, to school on Monday.
