A GRIZZLY bear came face-to-face with a hungry wolf trying to steal a kill from under its nose in a tense stand-off.
The daring animal tried to take a bite of the bear's prey by the river's edge at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

Grizzly bears bury their kill to cover up the scent and prevent wandering animals from stealing their meal – but a lone wolf managed to pick up the smell.
In the video, the bold wolf is seen approaching the grizzly while it was napping, trying to steal its meal without the creature noticing.
The wolf is then seen sniffing the ground next to the bear, just metres away from the dead elk before taking a few bites of the carcass.
Realising the wolf nearby, the bear awakes from his sleep and leaps to his feet, sending the wolf jumping backwards in fear.
BEAR FACED CHEEK
Over the next two hours, the wolf made four daring attempts to steal the bear’s prey - but each time the bear warded the wandering animal off.
Seth Royal Kroft who filmed the scene said: “This wolf was alone and therefore not much of a threat to the massive grizzly.
“It was more of a game to him to see how close the dominating bear would let him get to his kill. To my surprise, he let him get very close.
“The wolf would slowly approach, the bear would make a slight shift in position, and the wolf would back off for a while.
"This cycle occurred four times in my watching."
Grizzly bears are normally extremely protective of their kills and will fight off other bears and mammals.

The creatures are omnivorous, and their diet consists of plants, roots and grasses while wolves are carnivorous hunting large hoofed animals such as deer, elk and mountain goats.
Stand-offs between bears and wolves are not unusual as the two animals often target the same prey.
