Erie, Pennsylvania resident Adrian Ewing shared an emotional tribute to Emily Matson on Facebook where he thanked the anchor for her work as a journalist in Erie.
In the post, he shared a story where Matson interviewed members of the local community for a breaking news story, saying: "After the interview, Emily and I talked for a little while and shared a hug. She was very very emotional and upset covering that particular story.
"And I remember walking away from her after we hugged with the biggest smile in my heart knowing that this community had someone like her out here covering the stories that were so important to us and more importantly that she had the heart for us that she did."
He continued: "I have lived a very public life for many many years and as such have been covered and interviewed by a great many reporters, but NONE had ever touched my heart personally in the way that Emily did.
"Everything about her SCREAMED ERIE!!! She was for us. For us ALL. And we were lucky to have her for so many years.
"Tonight, I want to thank her again for her love for this community. For stepping in and making a point of covering so many beautiful moments of ACTION AND CHANGE for myself, other activists and everyone really.
"You will be more missed than you know," the post concluded.
