Dr. Dog is a rock band from the Pennsylvania town of West Grove. Toby Leaman (bass guitar), Scott McMicken (lead guitar), Frank McElroy (rhythm guitar), Zach Miller (keyboard), Eric Slick (drums), and Dimitri Manos [multi-instrument] make up the band’s lineup. Lead vocal responsibilities are split between Leaman and McMicken, with harmonies provided by the rest of the band. In addition, each band member has a nickname that begins with the letter T, and they have said that friends of the band also have nicknames that are derived from elements of their lives and personalities, as described by the band (Former member Andrew “Trial” Jones, for example, is a licenced attorney). Its distinct brand of indie rock is heavily inspired by artists from the 1960s, such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys, but the band has also experimented with a variety of other genres since its formation. Their early records reflect the influence of indie rock artists from the 1990s, such as Guided by Voices and Pavement, as well as the lo-fi sound and pop sensibilities of such bands. However, their most recent albums have included more polished production.
