Deepak Kumar Baij is the present chief of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee. He is also a member of the Lok Sabha from the Bastar constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, Baij defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Baidu Ram Kashyap by 38,982 votes. Baij won the Chitrakot constituency twice in 2013 and 2018. In the 2018 Chhattisgarh Assembly Election, Baij retained the Chitrakot constituency by defeating BJP's Lachhuram Kashyap by 17,770 votes. Baij is again contesting from the Chitrakot constituency against BJP's Vinayak Goyal.
