San Antonio Police Chief William McManus released video on Thursday showing two persons of interests in the couple's murder.

One is seen wearing a white tank top getting out of a dark-colored Chevy pickup truck.

The second person of interest is seen in a dark-colored shirt driving Guerra's Kia Optima.

The video showed one person getting out of the driver's seat of the pickup truck with a bed cover and approaching the driver of Guerra's Kia.

Moments later, a second person is seen getting out of the driver’s seat of Guerra’s sedan, who McManus said was not Guerra.

The driver of the truck appears to grab something out of his vehicle and give it to the person of interest in the Kia.

The cars then drive off in different directions.

The police chief declined to say whether Soto and Guerra were already dead when the video was taken.

McManus also announced on Thursday that the killings are now being investigated as a capital murder case.

Soto, who was nine months pregnant at the time of her death, was reported missing on December 22, a day before she was scheduled to be induced to give birth, her family said.

At the time, Soto lived in an apartment with her boyfriend, who was also missing.

Their bodies were found inside a Kia Optima at an apartment complex in San Antonio the day after Christmas.

Both Soto and Guerra were killed by a gunshot wound to the head. Their unborn baby, Fabian, also died.

McManus said the bodies were in the vehicle for several days.

“Clearly, it was a heinous act,” McManus said.

Soto's mother, Gloria Cordova, told CBS News that she believes her daughter was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"I think it had something to do with him [Guerra] and things that he was doing, not my daughter," the heartbroken mother told the outlet.

"My daughter just was there with him ... they didn't want someone to say what happened, somebody that's going to say it's so-and-so, or this is what he looked like.

"She just was there at the wrong time."

Cordova said her daughter was found in the front seat with a car seat on top of her, and Guerra was sprawled out across the backseat - which aligns with the video showing a person of interest driving their car.

"I hope they pay for whatever they did to my daughter," she previously told CBS affiliate KENS-TV.

"He [Guerra] used to abuse her, and I told her to get out of the relationship, but she - she was hard-headed, she wouldn't listen.

"But I think this time she was going to leave him already. That's what I'm hearing.

"They took an innocent, an innocent girl that was going to be a mommy. They just took her life for nothing."

Guerra was on probation for assaulting Soto on Christmas Day in 2022, according to court documents.

In June, a judge granted Guerra probation for the family incident and permitted him to have contact with Soto as long as it was not harmful or injurious.

The probation was set to expire in June 2024, but a judge extended it to February 2025 after Guerra picked up unrelated charges, including unlawful carrying of a weapon, evading arrest in a vehicle, and reckless driving, local outlets reported.
