That's all from Qatar

Argentina have picked up a major 2-0 win over Mexico at the Lusail Stadium to exorcise their shock World Cup loss to Saudi Arabia.

And it was the Albiceleste's star captain Lionel Messi who led the Copa America winners to this incredibly important victory that puts them back in the picture for the World Cup’s Last 16.

Messi opened the scoring with a scintillating shot on 64 minutes from the edge of the box that ended up in Guillermo Ochoa’s bottom left corner.

Enzo Fernandez sealed the win with a stunner of his own after 87 minutes as his curling shot from the left hit Ochoa’s top left corner.

Messi makes history

And Lionel Messi has also made history after scoring and providing the assist for Enzo Fernandez's goal against Mexico.

Messi is now both the youngest (18y 357d) and the oldest (35y 155d) player to both score and assist in a single World Cup game.

That is since the start of the 1966 tournament when Opta started gathering stats.

And if the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner plays and scores against Poland he will surpass Diego Maradona for most World Cup goals and appearances

Messi reached another major milestone after scoring against Mexico in his sixth straight appearance.
