Family advocate speaks out
Moses Castillo, a former LAPD detective and advocate for the family, shared a video saying, "In my 30 years of law enforcement, this is the worst death notification I've ever witnessed."
He broke into tears as he spoke of the pain that the Vazquez family is in as they grieve Andrea.
"Just know that there's no connection between the suspect and the victims, period," he shared in a statement on Instagram.
He concluded: "Andrea Vazquez, your life mattered. We will fight for you."

As the case into Andrea Vazquez's killing remains open, police are still seeking any information in regard to the case.

Case to be presented tomorrow
Whittier Police shared that the case of Andrea Vazquez's killing will be presented tomorrow, Wednesday, August 23, to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
The investigation is still ongoing, meaning detectives won't disclose any additional details at this time.
Andrea's body found in a field
Whittier Police shared that they searched for Andrea Vazquez in "large open land areas" in Moreno Valley, which is where her sister reported her phone was tracked.
Just before midnight, detectives located Andrea Vazquez's body in a "vegetation field" in Moreno Valley.
The field is located off Alessandro Boulevard and Merwin Street.
Suspect's mugshot released
Gabriel Sean Esparza has been detained in connection to the case after Andrea Vazquez’s body was recovered in Riverside, police say.
Whittier Police said the 20-year-old was arrested at his job in Lakewood.
Case recoveries
A weapon thought to have been used in the crime was discovered.
Andrea's pickup, a 2013 white Toyota Tacoma, was also found.
